Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 5 release date and Season 4 ending

What’s new in Fortnite?

Fortnite players can now purchase a Shaq and Super Shaq skin pack. Both skins are part of the new Shaquille O’Neal Set, which also contains the Ones N Twos and Shaq Shimmy emotes. There’s also the Shaq’s DJ Decks back bling, Super Shaq Shield back bling, Axe-Lifier pickaxe, and Shaq Attackers pickaxe. This is on top of the Shaqsleeves wrap, which applies a black and gold pattern to your chosen weapons.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 brings a Marvel-themed story for players to dig into. There’s a bunch of new areas to visit, including The Raft, each hiding a powerful boss enemy to take down.

With the current season only having just launched last month, we won’t be hearing about the next one for a little while. We do know when it’ll arrive, however, and that there’s likely to be big changes to the map and the ongoing story. It’s frequent updates like these that make Fortnite one of the best battle royale games around.

Here’s everything you need to know about the process of Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 ending, when Chapter 5 Season 5 starts, and what to expect. For a more classic experience, check out what we know about Fortnite OG coming back.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 will end on November 2, 2024. This is according to the main Battle Pass screen in-game. Generally, this has been pretty accurate in the past, but be aware that timings have been known to be tweaked slightly as the end of the season approaches.

It’s worth noting that some previous seasons’s timings shifted by a couple of days just before the new one was supposed to arrive, so timings here are always subject to change regarding downtime periods. The best place to keep up on specific updates closer to the launch of the new season is the Fortnite Status Twitter account. We’ll be sure to keep this page up to date as well.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 5 will launch on Saturday November 2, 2024 if Epic sticks to its current schedule. The thing to remember about new Fortnite seasons and chapters is that there is always a period of downtime after one ends. This downtime makes the next season’s exact start time a little tricky to predict as it can range from a couple of hours – as was the case last season – to multiple days, which has happened between chapters before.

Given that Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 only launched a short while ago, it’ll be a little while before we start to get news on the next season. Currently, players can enjoy a story centered around Dr. Doom, with a new Battle Pass that’ll grant Marvel-themed rewards in exchange for stars. Shuri, Gwenpool, War Machine and Emma Frost are featured.

What we’re expecting is a continuation of Fortnite OG, which launch in November of last year. Epic has yet to confirm this, but did reveal that Fortnite OG is coming back in 2024. November 2, 2024 would be the last place it could take over as the main Fortnite season, so this fits rather well.

Now that Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 is live, we can take a look at the new map changes. These largely involve the addition of three new main areas: Castle Doom, Doomstadt, and The Raft. The northern parts of the map are the areas where you’ll see the most changes here, with Doom Courtyard also added. Red trees can be seen all over this area, and Easter Eggs like the Fantastic Four logo can be found nearby. In terms of the rest of the map, things are pretty much as they were last season. The Wastelander zones can still be found, including the Nitrodome, Brutal Beachhead and Redline Rig.

In terms of what’s gone, Classy Courts has made way for Doom’s Courtyard, which is home to a giant statue of Doom’s face. The Wastlelander bosses have gone too. In their place are Doom Bot, Emma Frost and Mysterio. Each drops a mythic weapon when defeated, as well as a medallion that each grants a different effect. Vehicle upgrade boxes and turrets are no longer available either, marking the end of the vehicle combat meta.
